Fosters Needed

Consider opening your home temporarily to a dog in need. Fostering is an important step on a pet’s journey to their forever home. A home environment is best for their health and wellbeing. Fostering dogs in a home environment allows them to thrive in a home setting and practice forming bonds. Fostering a dog is a highly rewarding way to assist Labrador Rescuers.

Foster Update:

He is beyond a sweetie pie, absolutely loves cuddles, is incredibly well trained and puts "ball" above all else. He's great with other dogs with proper introductions, mostly ignores other dogs on walks, but on occasion is reactive to a dog that looks at him funny. He pulls a bit on the leash, but is eager to please and will correct himself. He's also really good at running on the leash and can go about 4 miles before he gets tuckered out.

Gunner is high energy and needs exercise - he needs to be with either someone who's willing to run with him, or have a big enough backyard to toss the ball for him (a pool he can swim in or access to a dog beach would be a huge plus!

In the house, he's well trained and really mellow. He can sit, lay down, give you a paw, roll over, come, stay, and we even trained him to "go to bed" and he'll go to his crate. He's a very smart dog and is food motivated so training him is super easy. He's a couch dog and a bed dog and he won't take no for an answer. Gunner is the definition of a velcro Lab.

One of the most important factors that will be considered is the amount of time he'll be left alone. Gunner definitely has separation anxiety. Even if I stick around with him, as soon as Jake is out of sight, he starts crying, sometimes barking and he'll pace around the house looking for him. He needs to be crated if he's home alone, otherwise he's destructive.

For the family that is able to bring him everywhere they go and never leave him home alone - this dog is an absolute dream. Gunner is the definition of the perfect dog, assuming you don't mind playing fetch with a slobbery ball until your arm falls off.

Meet Gunner, He is an active boy. He loves to swim and play fetch. He will dive after toys in the pool. He needs daily proper exercise.
